Erin Elizabeth SmithMezzo-Soprano
Mezzo-soprano Erin Elizabeth Smith captivates audiences worldwide with her “powerful rich voice, impressive for accuracy of pinpoint pitch and attack” (Opera News). Equally accomplished in opera and musical theatre, she most recently performed Sister Berthe and Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music with Lyric Opera of Chicago and has toured with Theatre Under the Stars. As a member of Washington National Opera’s prestigious Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program, she performed Emilia in Otello opposite Plácido Domingo and Ninetta in I Vespri Siciliani under Maestro Domingo’s baton. International engagements include Lyrique en Mer in France (Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice), her role debut as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni with Arizona Opera, Harper and Ethel Rosenberg in Angels in America with Fort Worth Opera, and performances with Central City Opera, New York City Opera, and Opera Theatre of St. Louis. Concert highlights include Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, and the Tanglewood Music Center, where her performance as Dinah in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti was broadcast live on NPR. A dedicated educator, Ms. Smith teaches at BAMtheatre and maintains a private voice studio. She is a Juilliard Opera Center alumna and proud mother of a ten-year-old son. Full Biography
